Iran is a model of understanding among nations: president
Tehran Times Political Desk

TEHRAN -- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stated on Friday that Iran is a model of understanding and brotherly life.

“Today, Iran is really a model for brotherly life and understanding among nations,” he said in a meeting with members of families of martyrs and veterans of the Sacred Defense (1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war) from religious minority groups such as Zoroastrians and Armenian and Assyrian Christians.

“Because of the prevalence of this empathy and unity in Iran and the perseverance of this nation, no power, movement, or threat can hinder Iran’s daily progress toward the summits of glory.”

Ahmadinejad praised the role martyrs have played throughout history, saying, “Today and tomorrow, humanity is indebted to Iranian martyrs, for they have shown a path to humanity which is fraught with light, purity, glory, and honor.”

At the meeting, MPs representing religious minorities in the Majlis expressed their gratitude to the president for the special attention the Islamic Republic of Iran pays to religious minorities.

They rejected the enemies’ allegations that there are human rights violations in Iran and pointed out that one of the aims of the Islamic Revolution was to strengthen ties between practitioners of divine religions
