|Golden Pen Awards announces winners||
TEHRAN - Iran’s Pen Association announced the winners of the 8th Golden Pen Awards in a ceremony on Tuesday night at the venue of the association.
Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini, Deputy Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance for Cultural Affairs Bahman Dorri, and Pen Association officials Mohammadreza Sarshar, Mohsen Parviz attended the award ceremony.
Speaking at the event, the culture minister Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini stressed on the importance of books and reading in today’s world.
He pointed out to the permanence of books in comparison with speech and the effects of books on the lives of people, lamenting the books of inferior quality that are published today.
Next, the secretary of this edition of the awards Ahmad Shakeri talked about the event saying that 804 fictional novels, 1890 poetry anthologies and 590 research monographs were selected for the competition from which further selections were made for the semi-finals.
After that, Dorri spoke briefly about the book award event calling it a most intimate tribute to the “Islamic Revolution and religious” aims of Iran.
Then, the winners of the awards were announced. In the fiction section, Mansur Anvari won the award for his book “The War Road” for “the artistic construction of fiction, narrative coherence in time and place, and invaluable thematic research”.
In the poetry section, Hojjatoleslam Mohammadreza Vahedi was selected as the winner for his book “Anxiety Continuation”, which the jury recognized for “using appropriate literary devices and thematic sublimity”.
“An Introduction to Literary Schools and Approaches” by Shahriar Zarshenas was selected in the literature section of the event. The jury selected the book for its “novelty in research and for its critical view toward theories and also its effort to fill the intellectual gaps”.
