altIran has rejected some news published by western media on selling crude oil to Greece on credit, saying that the country has not opened an unlimited credit line for Greece.

The National Iranian Oil Company’s managing director, Ahmad Qalebani, said that the contract for selling oil to Greece has remained unchanged within the past two years.

Reuters said in a report on November 11 that traders said Greece has turned to Iran as the supplier of last resort despite rising pressure from Washington and Brussels to stifle trade as part of a campaign against Tehran's nuclear program.

Qalebani also denied a Reuters report that an Iranian-owned entity this week lifted 80,000 tons (586,400 barrels) of Syrian crude, consisting 50,000 tons of heavy Souedie and 30,000 tons of Syrian Light, at Baniyas.

The United States, Britain and Canada announced fresh plans Monday to sanction Iran's financial and energy sectors in a move to raise pressure on Tehran to halt its nuclear program.

Britain banned dealings with Iranian banks including the central bank.

World can't do without Iran oil: Tehran official

Iran's oil and gas reserves are so vast they cannot be excluded from the world market as France is urging the West to do, Mehr news agency quoted the National Iranian Oil Company head as saying on Friday.

"Iran possesses massive oil and gas reserves... Thus ignoring Iran in oil and gas exchange will not be acceptable (by the international community)," said Ahmad Qalebani, who is also a deputy oil minister.

France's announcement that it would soon stop importing oil from Iran was hollow, he added.

"The National Iranian Oil Company does not export any crude oil to France that could be subject to sanctions," he said.

France on Thursday said it would stop buying Iranian oil. The foreign ministry said the move would be organized "in liaison with the European partners."

France has called on other Western nations to put in place an embargo on Iran's oil exports.

Qalebani said Canadian sanctions on the sale of petrochemical technology and equipment were only words.

"Iran does not import any oil and gas equipment from Canada. This country has no role in supplying parts and equipment to Iran's oil industry," he said.
