TEHRAN -- The Iranian movie “Growing in the Wind” directed by Rahbar Qanbari is competing in the Cinekid Festival, which is currently underway in Amsterdam.
Seven other films are also scheduled to be screened in the International Competition section of the festival, Qanbari told the Persian service of the Fars News Agency on Tuesday.
Four screenings has been scheduled for “Growing in the Wind” and the first will take place on October 21, he added.
The film tells the story of Aslan, a top student in a nomad’s winter place, who misses his chance to attend final exams due to the problems his father is dealing with. Now he has to study while leading the herds as a shepherd.
But in the first place, he is obliged to teach something of life to an elder shepherd who has fallen for his big sister; to teach him to be a worthy man to love his sister.
Gohar Kheirandish, Omid Zendegani, Hossein Abedini, Yalda Qashqaii and Zabih Afshar are main members of the cast of the film.
Qanbari, who has also written the screenplay of the film, won a Golden Butterfly for best screenplay for the film in the International Section of the 26th International Film Festival for Children and Young Adults in Isfahan last week.
Qanbari has also won Jury Award of 2002 Cinekid Festival for his film “The Little Bird Boy”.
The Farabi Cinematic Foundation is the producer of “Growing in the Wind”.
