TEHRAN – Three new movies are scheduled to go on screen in different theater halls across the country during the month of Ramadan, which begins on July 21 this year.

“You and I” directed by Asghar Banki, “Kolah-Qermezi and Mommy’s Boy” by Iraj Tahmasb and “The Route to Heaven” by Mehdi Sabbaghzadeh will join the on-screen movies, Persian news agencies reported on Sunday.

As previous years, late-night screenings entitled “Azan to Azan” will also be observed this year. The Azan to Azan project is a program for screening films in large Iranian cities until late at night during the month of Ramadan.

The project has been initiated by movie theater owners in Tehran few years ago after they obtained approval from the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance.

The program has been established to lessen the loss of box office receipts during the month, which is the slow season for Iranian cinema.

The two on-screen movies “I Feel Sleepy” by Reza Attaran and “Without Goodbye” by Ahmad Amini will continue screening during Ramadan.
