TEHRAN – The first edition of the Tehran International Video Festival will be held concurrently in Tehran and Abu Musa Island, the secretary of the festival announced.

Mohammadreza Abbasian announced that Tehran’s Palestine Cinema and Abu Musa will host an open air performance of the festival’s films.

The island has a theater but the films will go on screen in an open-air area due to the hot weather in the region, he added.

“We have several cultural programs in the different islands of the Persian Gulf including screening films which will be attended by renowned cineastes,” he mentioned.

Filmmakers from seven countries including Hungry, Turkey, Italy, Russia, France and India will attend the event, he added.

Director Farzad Motamen, producer Morteza Razzaq-Karimi and author Abbas Karimi are the jury members for the international section.

Sponsored by Iranian Visual Media Institute, the festival will be held from June 22 to 27.
