|Pictorial encyclopedia of Iranian female painters ready for publication||
TEHRAN -- An Iranian publisher has recently completed compiling a pictorial encyclopedia of Iranian female painters.
Entitled “The Lady of Color”, the bilingual encyclopedia will be printed by the Mashq-e Honar Publications in Persian and English in the near future.
The encyclopedia contains biographies of 100 Iranian painters, the head of Mashq-e Honar Publications Mohammadreza Kamareii told the Persian service of IRNA.
The book also carries pictures of their paintings and articles about their work and its influence on Oriental art.
A chapter has also dedicated to introduce some junior Iranian painters.
Celebrated painters Aidin Aghdashlu, Parviz Kalantari, and Mohsen Vaziri wrote prefaces to the book.
A group of academics commissioned by Mashq-e Honar spent two years compiling the book.
Kamareii said that there is no comprehensive book on Iranian female artists in Iran and expressed his hope that the book shows appreciation to the female artists for their years of achievements.
He also called the encyclopedia a valuable source of information for foreign collectors who want to buy Iranian paintings.
