Tehran institute to commemorate Iranologist Werner Sundermann

TEHRAN -- Iran’s House of Writers will hold a commemoration ceremony today for the recently deceased German Iranologist Werner Sundermann.
 
Scholar Amir-Kavus Balazadeh, Mohammad Shokri-Fumeshi, Ali Behbahani and linguist Badrozzaman Qarib will speak on Sundermann during the event.
 
Werner Sundermann passed away on October 12, 2012 after a long illness in Germany. 
 
Born in 1935 in Thale, a small town in the Harz region of Germany, he took up Iranian Studies at Humboldt University in 1954. He has written several articles and books in German on Iranian cultural studies.
 
Professor Sundermann was the outstanding expert on Manichaeism and a great scholar of Pahlavi literature.
 
The House of Writers is located at No. 2, Khajeh Nassir Alley, off Felestin-Jonubi St.
