TEHRAN -- Painter and children’s book illustrator Parviz Kalantari plans to exhibit a collection of his illustrations, which are usually nostalgic for the people who spent their childhood in the 1970s.

Twenty-seven illustrations, some dating back to 50 years ago, will be put on display at the exhibition which will open at Tehran’s Arasbaran Cultural Center on October 6, the center announced in a press release on Wednesday.

In addition, some of the works will be shown for the first time at the exhibit entitled “In Memory of Childhood”.

Kalantari, 81, has illustrated 26 children’s books. His works had also been published in textbooks for primary schools in the 1970s.

Kalantari’s paintings excellently depict the ambiance of Iran’s rural and traditional sites.

His triptych painting entitled “Iranian City” was installed at the UN-HABITAT headquarters in Nairobi in October 2005 during the commemoration of World Habitat Day.
