|7th Marivan International Street Theater Festival kicks off||
TEHRAN – The seventh edition of the Marivan International Street Theater Festival was inaugurated in the city in the western Iranian province of Kordestan on Friday.
Art lovers and other people gathered in the Park Mellat where regional theater troupes staged several traditional Kurdish performances, the Persian service of IRNA reported on Friday.
Veteran theatrical figures including Hadi Marzban, Maryam Mo’taref, Nasrollah Qaderi and Majid Amraii also took part in the opening ceremony.
Over 20 Iranian and foreign plays were performed on the first day of he festival on Friday.
In addition, several workshops and seminars attended by foreign troupes have been arranged for today.
Seven foreign theater troupes coming from Germany, India, France, Tajikistan, the Netherlands, Iraq and Indonesia are competing in the International Section of the festival this year.
Thirty-one Iranian troupes will also be performing in the Iranian Competition Section. The Children’s Section has also been added to this year’s festival.
The troupes are also due to give performances in Sarvabad, Barderasheh, Kanidinar and several other villages near Marivan.
The festival will be running until October 2.
