Former ATP Tour Player Todd Witsken Dies at 34

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Florida Todd Witsken, whose victory over Jimmy Connors in the third round of the 1986 U.S. Open was his biggest career win, has died at the age of 34 after a battle with brain cancer, the ATP Tour announced Tuesday. Witsken retired in 1993 and was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme the deadliest form of brain cancer in August 1996.
He underwent surgery to remove a malignant tumor that same month and had another surgery three months later. Witsken underwent chemotherapy throughout 1997. Witsken won 11 doubles titles during his career and reached a career high ranking of fourth in doubles and 43rd in singles. (AFP)
