TEHRAN Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said on Wednesday that education of children and young adults requires serious attention. In a meeting with the officials of the Center for the Intellectual Promotion of Children and the Young Adults, the Leader said the writers and artists with the center should plant the seeds of faith in God and Islam in the hearts of the children of the great nation of Iran. The Leader said the center for Intellectual Promotion of Children and Young Adults shoulders the responsibility of making good on the two-century backwardness brought by the black hands of colonialism to Iran. ``We are required to think of the education of children and the young adults and accord high importance to it, but, unfortunately, some people involved in cultural affairs do not give the due attention to it,'' the Leader said.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the Islamic Revolution wants a young generation to get learned and go forward with an inquiring spirit and intelligence. ``The Iranian nation is concerned about access of the foreigners to their children's minds. Today, the foreign cultural centers are making every attempt to reach our young adults through their corrupt cultural means. This is an inevitable concern of the Iranian families,'' the Leader said.

``But in the meantime, I believe we can block the access of foreigners to our children through our good performance and precise and scientific methods.'' The Leader called on the writers and artists to fill the leisure time of the young people for the sake of God and said with the intellectual promotion of the young adults the future of the country would be guaranteed.

On the background of arts and literature in Iran, the Leader said Iran is the cradle of arts and literature which have their roots in the character of the Iranian nation. On the promotion of the Persian language, the Leader said the Persian language is now considered as the prevailing academic language in the world thanks to the progress it has made in the wake of the Islamic Revolution. The Leader said the specialized Center for Intellectual Promotion of Children and Young Adults should apply artistic methods to teach the Persian language and literature to the young people.

The young students who learn Persian today will become artists, poets or writers tomorrow, the Leader said. (IRNA)
