CAIRO Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held talks with Egypt's president Tuesday in advance of next week's London conference aimed at nudging forward stalled Middle East peace negotiations. Netanyahu was met at Cairo Airport by Egyptian Prime Minister Kamal el-Ganzoury and left immediately for the meeting with President Hosni Mubarak at the Egyptian leader's Al-Salam Palace. The two men met for nearly two hours before Netanyahu left for the airport to return to Israel. Neither of the leaders talked to reporters after the session.

While Mubarak has repeatedly criticized Israel for failing to live up to its promises in peace agreements with the Palestinians, he and Netanyahu appeared to be in a good mood as they shook hands and joked while having their pictures taken. (AP)
