TEHRAN – The second methanol production unit at Zagros Petrochemical Complex will officially come on stream by next week, rising Iran's annual methanol output to 6.050 tons.

Zagros Petrochemical Company signed a contract with a consortium comprising Germany’s Lurgi Company and Iran’s Petrochemical Industries Design and Engineering Company (PIDEC) in 2004 to establish the unit, SHANA news agency reported.
The unit is to produce 1.65 million tons of methanol per annum, accounting for 12 percent of the whole methanol production of the world.
It started trial operation in July 2009 and it will be officially inaugurated on the Ten-Day Dawn (Feb. 1-10) which marks the 31st anniversary of the Islamic Revolution
