Murray eases into semi-finals

World number four Andy Murray advanced to the semi-finals at the Valencia Open with a 6-4 6-2 win over home player Albert Montanes.

Top seed Murray was not quite at his best in the opening set against the world number 34 but then dominated in the second to dismiss the Spaniard.

The victory marked 22-year-old Murray's third career win over Montanes after also defeating the Spanish player in Doha and Indian Wells earlier this year.

The Briton will play another home hope, Fernando Verdasco, in the last four.
